Starting with a couple of recent easy outfits that are (1) shockingly not The Row head-to-toe, and (2) simple, realistic, but still chic/effective for day-to-day life. I might be speaking for myself but think we all need more of these, yeah?
Example A:
Every single time I wear these jeans, I get compliments. Maybe it’s the need for instant gratification but I just do not have it in me to dig for vintage denim all the time. This new wash would totally fool you and is scratching my itch for ultra dark denim while I wait for these to come back in stock. Below is how I wore them to a store opening here in SF, though I think it would work just as well for a casual lunch/dinner/catch-up.

Worn with a very unassuming, but very good, black tee (I also have/love the long-sleeve version) and this little wristlet I weirdly cannot get enough of. It’s understated and easy, almost like a daytime clutch that isn’t trying too hard…even if the only reason you’re leaving the house is for Pilates.
Example B:
If Jennifer Lawrence and I share anything, it’s a deep love for this sweatshirt. I’m also fully on board with her momboy style, as The Cut coined it, even if I don’t totally fit the description. It just feels more in line with my own style than showing up perfectly coordinated to a workout. Here’s an iteration of what I wore to a couple classes this week:

Beyond the sweatshirt, apparently we also have a mutual love for mules and clogs, especially if they lean a bit utilitarian. I’m not running for a rubber pair just yet, but I have been stalking TRR for these to pop up in my size.
Other important clogs that have recently entered my life:
A slightly slimmer profile than the Hugo mules, which I’ve worn to death and work well for the city I that live in whether I like it here or not. If you’re still on the fence, everyone raves about these including some of my chicest friends. If nothing else clogs really do make an excellent travel shoe… I wore my Hugos nonstop on my last trip home in October between the Cape and Nantucket, which I shared a bit more about here.
I also wanted to share a little interview I did recently with Selleb. If you’re not familiar, it’s basically a platform built to expose real purchase receipts. The whole idea is that your receipts tell the true story of your taste, which is a super smart and naturally intriguing concept.
The sister duo behind Selleb, Chloe and Claire, asked me all about my shopping habits, current obsessions, auto-subscriptions, etc., and of course I had plenty to say. Linking the interview here if you want to read it.
Speaking of, it’s officially that time of year when you’re probably feeling at least a little pressure to buy something from every flash sale splashed across your screen. I’m putting together a few edits (refusing to call them gift guides because the phrase physically pains me), but for now just know most of these sales are not that serious. With my clients, I’ve been narrowing things down to short priority lists including items that are actually worth grabbing on sale but would still be worth it at full price. It cuts the clutter and keeps you from matching half the internet.
Some early sales have already kicked off, and here’s what I think is worthwhile:
This is a standout sweater that I’ve convinced more than one client to purchase, it’s that good. Add this scarf to your cart too if you love this Kendall Jenner look as much as I do. (25% off with code ACTHANKSYOU25)
The SSENSE private sale is VERY tempting across a number of categories. You’ll need to be logged in to access the sale, but if a wishlist item of yours made it into the 60–70% markdowns like this TOTEME coat, I’d grab it. Otherwise, the only thing actually worth risking a DHL surprise bill for is Flore Flore. My recent order summary below as proof:
The Khaite private sale is live with up to 40% off some of their best leather, denim, knits, and of course: belts.
Some amazing GWYN (formerly G.Label) pieces are included in the Goop sale. The entire line is ultra chic, timeless, and impossible to go wrong.
More to come in a week or so when things properly ramp up, but I’ll leave it here for now. My general rule is wishlists shouldn’t be built around whatever happens to be on sale. This is the moment to shop with intention for pieces that serve the season ahead and/or fill gaps you’ve already identified in your wardrobe. Not the adrenaline hit of a dramatic markdown.
