Sweatpants Make My World Go Round
Along with matcha and the Olsen twins
In case you haven’t heard, The Row in Amagansett is now selling FREECITY sweatpants. If that feels random to you—it’s not! The twins have been wearing them for years, casually providing the best off duty outfit inspiration you can find on the internet.
Sweatpants are a core part of my wardrobe and that’s not just because I work from home. They’re actually extremely cool when styled the right way—with the key being to not overthink it. My best sweats/pajama-adjacent looks usually come from whatever’s at the top of my “to put away” pile (which is never ending)…paired with something I may have slept in the night before. I don’t make up the rules, it just works!
Some of my other favorite reference points:

While my love for FREECITY sweats dates all the way back to high school, some of my more recent favorites include this pair by THE GREAT. and this style by Splits59 (code: HELEN15). Jenni Kayne makes a really great pair too. I can’t personally vouch for these just yet but they’re next on my list.

Across the board, I’m loyal to a slightly cropped length, elastic ankle, and an exaggerated drawstring. I find that the elastic hem works with basically any shoe, and I like letting the drawstring hang out to add to that effortless, just barely pulled together vibe.
I usually avoid matching sets, but if I’m doing the same color top and bottom, I make sure the tones are slightly off. It just looks better that way.
Final notes:
If you prefer a wide leg, LSD recently proclaimed her love for this pair by LESET, which seem to be very much inspired by this pair (sitting high up on my delusional wish list.)
I’ve heard similar great things about the range of loungewear by ETERNE, and quite a few tempting styles are on sale via SSENSE.
