RealReal tangent, recent favorites, timely sales, and a seasonal edit
Like clockwork (and, I assume, like many of you), I check The RealReal at least twice a day to scroll through my saved searches to see which new first-look arrivals I’ll inevitably add to my obsessions.
Vintage is the naturally the draw for a lot of people, but I love to use TRR as a search engine for current-season pieces. You’d be surprised at how often the exact item you’ve been eyeing elsewhere is sitting there untouched for significantly less. My most recent find below feels like very good evidence.
Fortunately, my “not so great” purchases are few and far between, but because I’m constantly editing my closet, I’m equally committed to using TRR for resale.
Either way, I firmly believe there should be zero shame in admitting something wasn’t quite right or no longer serves you…and therefore no reason not to get something back from it.
The Union Square RealReal in SF recently reopened, so I stopped by to consign a few pieces of jewelry that had been sitting untouched for longer than I’d like to admit.
Typically I let a pile build until I’m ready for a pickup, but for more significant pieces, I like bringing them in since there are a surprising number of ways to sell. This is beginning to sound sponsored (it’s not), but I was just very impressed by how easy (honestly pleasant?) the entire process was.
This feels like the natural moment to pivot into my best April purchases and the things I’ve been living in or especially excited about lately, because May is already halfway over. How?
Most of my favorite April purchases made it into my previous letter, so in an effort not to sound like a completely broken record, I rounded everything up here.
The trench was loved by many of you when I first shared it, but it’s another recent RealReal find (one exact left here), so I’m happy to share that I found the next best, widely available option.
I’ll report back on the differences, along with my thoughts on this very Row-coded cotton overshirt, which feels like the perfect thing to throw on for early summer dinners. This brand does no wrong in my eyes.
I know I’ll wear the overshirt endlessly, but one combination immediately came to mind is paired with cropped (or full length) pants and barely there sandals. A comfortable yet pulled together look, which is exactly the level of effort I’m always striving for.
With that, here’s everything else I’m either a) living in or b) convinced everyone needs for the rest of this season and into summer. You probably already own some version of most items, but they’ve become recent favorites for all of the everyday moments we don’t tend to post about, but I have a feeling most of us can relate to.
a) Living In
Donni. makes the world go round, it’s just a fact. My favorites lately include the simple crop pant (unreasonably comfortable and very elevated for what they are), taffeta cargos (regular cargos are starting to feel a little boring), jersey tee (perfect weight, size up to be Olsen-coded), flattering sweatpants, and this zip up sweatshirt, which is getting more wear than the Row one I bought last month.
Jeanerica continues to stay top of mind and most recently I have been fixating on wearing these chinos. Pair with a wedge and just about any simple top in your closet (i.e. this halter or this henley) for the easiest outfit ever.
b) Short List of Necessities
While much of the reason we’re all starting to look increasingly similar stems from this type of content, there’s still real value in the process of finding pieces that genuinely speak to you…even if it takes more time and a bit of discernment.
That said, I think feeling fresh and relevant over the next few weeks can be distilled into a fairly simple list!

I’d also add on ecru denim if you don’t already have a pair (these look perfect but I went with the raw hem version above), and a great everyday belt like this.

Nili Lotan’s annual archive archive sale is open with so many good vacation pieces to choose from.
Re/Done mark downs are happening. Eyeing this top and this henley to pair with any/all of their amazing denim.
I had a very early alarm set for the Suzie Kondi archive sale that started this morning.

What I’m not buying this Sephora sale
The Sephora savings event never ceases to make a restock feel essential. I do get the appeal of checking out with a discount, but I’ve found it’s better to purchase what you need on your own timeline.
