A case for packing simple clothes and letting your accessories do the heavy lifting
I have a trip abroad coming up soon and, as usual, my suitcase will be mostly filled with the same summer staples I wear every year. With a few exceptions, I personally find that summer collections usually aren’t the most groundbreaking. So instead of buying more of the same, I’m convinced that the fastest route to feeling updated without adding bulk is with a few great accessories.
Some new items I’m excited about below:
On that note, think back to the last time you were truly inspired by a girl on vacation. I’d bet she was either a local or just rewearing her favorite pieces. There’s something about the ease of getting dressed while you’re away that unlocks this freedom to wear things that wouldn’t really make sense back home.
I’ve always loved outfits that feature a little irony. Like, where is she going in a formal top, Bermuda shorts, and hotel slippers? Not a clue. But somehow it works. It’s the art of looking like a native, and that’s exactly the vibe I’m after.

In case you’ve got a trip coming up too, or just feel like getting ahead on summer outfit planning, I’m sharing a few outfits I’m packing below. It’s a mix of pieces I’ve worn a million times along with my new accessories but really the main goal is to hit that same vibe I mentioned above.
As always, I love to keep things fluid and full of options, which means everything packed needs to serve more than one look. (It’s literally the only way I can handle planning looks in advance—a suitcase full of commitments is my worst nightmare.)
Basically, vacation doesn’t need to mean a full wardrobe overhaul or identity crisis. Rewear the stuff you love, and if you want to mix it up, just add new jewelry or a fun accessory. Hope this is helpful!
