Home for the Holidays
What I packed in my carry-on and a few orders headed to my parents’ address
This title is slightly deceiving as I’m already back in California, but I did spend the past week at home getting a little jump start on the holidays! Per usual, I only ended up using 1/4 of what I crammed into my carry-on, and I definitely took advantage of sending a few purchases to MA. I miss living in a state with an almost nonexistent tax on clothing.
As always, consider this a gentle nudge to proceed with caution—I personally think the post-Christmas sales are more enjoyable to sort through.
All I want to wear no matter the temperature or my location are ballet flats. If you’re unable to resist a red pair like I couldn’t, this pair is a steal and are chic enough for Zoë Kravitz. If you’re in the market for a new bag, their selection is also worth a look—this shape in particular being my favorite.
Naturally I wore them out and about as soon as I could, and somewhat ironically, with a wool coat and leather gloves. Planning to style them with socks soon, most likely when I’m in NYC next week (!)
If you didn’t shop The Row’s private sale last week, I wouldn’t worry. Before my trip home, I realized I didn’t have a single pair of closed-toe heels (unsure how), so my only mission was to find the perfect black pair. I ordered two styles with different heel heights, thinking I’d keep this pair but was surprised by how much I loved the full heel. I’ll be wearing these every chance I get—shockingly comfortable and I’m pretty sure they even made it into my chic friend Laura’s edit over on 91_Lane of worthy holiday shoes this season.
The places I enjoy browsing much more have a wider and more interesting mix on sale right now, especially if there’s something specific you’ve been watching. I’ve gone through most of them, and Moda, Mytheresa, NAP, and Elyse Walker are the most worthy of your time.
A few other worthy/tempting sites:
Violet Grey’s best of beauty event is live and offering 20% off items that rarely go on sale, all in one place. The curations make it easy to shop for others, i.e. for The Wellness Devotee in your life, or “Last Minute” luxuries anyone would be happy to receive.
Everything Flamingo Estate is 20% off, and I can’t think of a more universal lineup. I always keep an emergency heirloom olive oil on hand for when I run out or need a quick something to give.
Le Prunier is 30% off site wide. This travel set is the only skincare I brought with me on my trip. I love the pouch it comes in; see below! Also noting I’ve repurchased their Plumtox facemask more than once.
Donni. and Leset basics are essential in my closet and both sites are 20–30% off. If you don’t need anything right now, it’s a good moment to fill a staple like great linen pants or a perfect white tee.
EBY is Love List–verified, and their entire site is buy-one-get-one right now including their infamous Relief Bra and matching nude undies.
The full Goop Beauty selection is 30% with code CYBER30, including my OG favorite serum, eye patches and at-home dry brush.
Three sweaters for a week might be overkill, but I rotated between this Extreme Cashmere, my Ophelia, and the one I’m wearing below. I clearly have a habit of investing in knitwear, but if I’m wearing something multiple times a week, I want it to feel amazing and make me excited every time I put it on. I offset my dry cleaning bill slightly by layering with this long sleeve underneath.
Obviously the brown jeans come with me everywhere, and staring at my boots has become a pastime…I’m in love and wear them every chance I get.
The brown is sold out, but black is still available, and they’re absolutely worthy of being the only present under the tree.
I used this duffle for all of my accumulated goods and was super impressed, I think it will look even better as it gets worn in. The only other noteworthy item I brought but didn’t get photo of was this perfect suit (on sale!) that would work for any holiday plans on your agenda. I’m definitely planning to outfit repeat for upcoming festivities.
Happy Thanksgiving!
