Here and there
Packing light and wearing what I love
Without fail, no matter the timing, the day before any travel always looks like this. Just me?
I managed to check everything off my list while wearing my hyper-fixation jeans and proceeded to throw my suitcase together in under 30 minutes. If you, like me, don’t love making what feels like a million decisions when packing, my tip is to build a little mood board in the days leading up to your trip. Editing it over time makes pulling out the suitcase feel way less daunting and visually planning interchangeable outfits is always a bit easier.
For example, here is some of what made the cut:

Another way I streamline packing is by paring my skincare and toiletries down. I fit all of my makeup and skincare into this one chic pouch and I don’t feel like I’m doing my skin a disservice because this essence and serum were designed to be the equivalent of a full step routine.
A separate small pouch holds my wellness must haves (i.e. dry brush, probiotics), plus a few other essentials float around in my purse. Is it a flex to say I only had my carry on suitcase and this shoulder bag with me on board?
It’s not exactly a new years resolution to rewear things (since I already do, which feels like a given) but I want to get better about sharing that, starting this sleeveless turtleneck. I wore it to my best friend’s baby shower below, will likely be wearing it again to dinner this weekend, and I’m predicting it will be a great piece come spring with white denim and perhaps these slides that are high up on my wishlist. These would be chic too.
If you’re as obsessed with the speckled cashmere The Row clearly has me in a chokehold over, consider this sweater first before it sells out.
Being in a mild climate felt like the perfect excuse to wear this Toteme trench I recently added to my outerwear collection. As someone who is petite, it’s always a little tricky to find coats that have structure and shape without being completely overwhelming, but Toteme sizing is super consistent. The 30/XXS has prevented the need for tailoring in this department, which honestly feels life changing in the least dramatic way possible.
While we’re on the subject, here are a few other Toteme styles I love, currently on sale with an extra % off at checkout (!) I’m such a sucker for a sale on sale moment. Wouldn’t the gathered coat look so chic with these?
To round out the new things I know I’ll be loving and wearing for years to come, I also used my trip as the perfect excuse to debut this blazer that mldumon sent to me from Facettes Studio. It already feels like an heirloom piece in the making.
The tuxedo style naturally works for more elevated moments, but I paired it down with brown leather boots to soften the look (same idea), along with this pair of better than vintage denim and a favorite white tee. I got my Peggy clutch last May but noticed it’s recently having a major moment and other brands are not waisting any time. Unsure if it will play out in a similar fashion as the Margaux but will admit it’s one of my most used and debate getting another color more often than I’d like to admit.
Back in California and already craving warmth and my future Spring wardrobe. More from me on that later this week.
