An Edited Week of Outfits
M-F with fewer options and better outfits
I recently had a conversation with a client who felt stuck getting dressed especially as the weather shifts. After working through it, the answer was less obvious, but very relatable (for me included). The paralysis of too many options.
Once you’ve edited your closet down to what actually serves you, there are a couple of ways to feel a little less stuck.
First, it’s worth planning a few outfits ahead of time even without a specific occasion. I’m not someone who loves to overly plan (at all), but during transitional periods it helps to lock in a few go-to formulas that carry you through the season. A little effort now = effortless later.
This part isn’t novel either, but before adding anything new, make sure it either fills a gap or is something you can immediately wear multiple ways (or multiple days in a row). It’s the easiest way to keep impulse buys in check.
I had a few new pieces arrive, so I mapped out how I’ll realistically wear them this week and ideally again in the next, with a few simple swaps.
Monday/Tuesday, because we outfit repeat!
I like to focus the first half of my week on getting as much email and admin work done as possible. On these days when I’m mostly at home and only stepping out for a matcha or a quick errand, comfort is obviously key, but I still try to keep things intentional. For that reason alone, I’ll be living in this new sweatshirt for the foreseeable future.
Would picking this up in grey instead have sufficed? Honestly yes, but FWIW, I’d been wanting a grey sweatshirt for months and finally justified the purchase after deciding that a third color of the Still Here option was probably overkill. If you don’t own one already, I’d start there!
The rest: sunglasses (alt), pants, bag. More on the sandals below…
Mid-Week, Out And About
Not sure if it’s due to a fresh blowout, but the motivation to put on denim tends to hit midweek. It’s also when I try to stack meetings or anything that gets me out of the house. Not a huge stretch from what I’d wear working from home but just feels more appropriate for being out and about.
This sweater is so versatile, and I love that it’s warm without bulk. Paired with a favorite t-shirt (alt), my latest denim indulgence (alt), and new bag to go with everything.
My sister fullllly dragged me for these sandals (she’s not wrong), but I’m already very satisfied with the purchase. My taste in shoes is a bit insatiable, but a black flip flop is what I reach for most, so I’m ok with having options. There are endless alternatives, but I was recently gifted this chic pair and if I wasn’t already a fan of the brand, this would’ve done it.
Thursday is about time for a drink, yes?
I instantly fell for this outfit and immediately grabbed the long sleeve (currently hunting down the white in my size). The pants, unfortunately, were just too much fabric for me and not worth major alterations. After doing a bit of side-by-side research, I can confirm these are very close if you’re also petite or would prefer to splurge elsewhere.

No doubt I’ll swap in sandals and a raffia tote to repeat this over the weekend, but the heels make it feel like an unexpected option for a casual date. Grateful my husband understands I’m not dressing for his gaze.
Off Duty and DND On

To my earlier point about not being much of a planner, I like keeping Fridays open and dressing in a way that can move with whatever the day turns into. Lately that looks like wrapping work a bit earlier, meeting a friend for matcha, maybe an early happy hour if the weather cooperates, and picking up something local on the way home for dinner.
This time of year, I’m drawn to the contrast of shorts with a trench since it strikes a balance that is perfect for a day that could go in a few directions. One of my favorite ways to layer in further interest is through tone/texture. Repeating the black long sleeve with navy velvet slippers and a charcoal trench (also on TRR!) keeps the foundation simple, but the small details are intentional. FYI my bag still seems to be still sold out but the larger version is popping up!
